Ran the maiden voyage with the new 150 hp and with a four blade 17" pitch prop I turned 5500 rpm and 44.7 mph verified on two gps units. I'm very pleased. It would've been a nicer day if we caught a few more fish.

Lumberslinger, that should be a really good fit. I found a 2000 Merc 150 that was sold in 2002 with less than 100 hours. No Optimax or EFI, just a carbed motor. This motor is heavier than my 1985 150 Merc I took off. The 2000 weighs 407 lbs and it puts my thru hulls underwater and my transom drains from the wetwell too. I do have 2 ea. 1000 amp batteries, an onboard charger and the oil tank in the bilge. I'm going to replace the plastic thru hulls with stainless steel and new heavy duty hoses.

Bronze for thru hulls, better than stainless.
