Well I had another good summer with Amanda. Sad to say winter is coming for me and took Amanda out of the water over the weekend. Me and my crew won the big fish in the Redrockfish derby in June. $1000 for the big fish and $1000 from Garmin for having there equipment mounted on the boat. Lake Superior salmon fishing up here this year was so so but still fun. A few sundowners up the Kam River with the wife was also relaxing. All and all good summer.

Thanks Destroyer for giving the group a poke - I always log in when I hit the sack to see what everyone’s up to and was disappointed when there was nothing for two nights in a row. I post when I think I have something to contribute but that’s not all that often.
I live in La Grande, have not hunted E. Washington but find Ellensburg to be very similar to La Grande in size and topography. Currently looking forward to bird seasons starting in October....

See, that's the problem. If we all wait until we think that we have something important then nothing gets posted because what each of us consider unimportant might be interesting to someone else.

For instance, I made another 9" deep dish apple pie yesterday. (I've been searching for the ultimate apple pie recipe for a long time, experimenting constantly. Too much sugar, not enough sugar, needs more Cinnamon, less Tapioca, etc etc..) Not really important, but it tasted great and it's almost gone today. I'd be happy to share the recipe with anyone that want's to try it. (see, not very important, but perhaps interesting to some.)

You’re right D - it is nice to just exchange some chat. I think apple selection is a pretty important variable in both the flavor and mouth feel of a pie and also dictates somewhat the amount if sugar that’s appropriate. I admit I don’t know squat about making pies but my wife is a superb cook and makes fantastic crusts, so I suppose I’m partial to not so deep dish pies to maintain my preferred filling to crust ratio. That being said, I’ll take the recipe and run it by her.

I’m in bed getting ready to sleep and this is making me really hungry for some apple pie - I need to quit talking about it.
