came out of the water today. in my haste to get her in the water i missed some zinc locations and the outdrive looked like it was starting to show a bit too much corosion for me.
i figured better to cut my season short than to spend about two grand for a new outdrive. have an alpha one gen one and i cant seem to find a diagram showing ALL the zinc locations for my outdrive. also, the corosion pushed out the seals on the trim rams... can the pistons be rebuilt? ok, let the responses come flooding in.

I believe you should have the trim tab one, one on each side of the gimble mounting bolts, and one at the base of the gimble. I've even seen people use the clamp on style on each trim cylinder as well.
Yes, the trim cylinders can be rebuilt depending on the amount of corrosion. If you're in a marina that you suspect to have a lot of stray electrical current in the water, use an external sacrificial zinc anode dangled over the side of your boat. i had the bolt covers on there, the ones about the size of a large gumball, and the tab one but never knew about the other one.
i went in the end of june and cam out today and the bolt ones are completely gone. do you think just the four would do the trick? the one that hangs over the side, what does it attach to?

The one that hangs over the side attaches to a mounting bolt on your outdrive.

Charlie try http://www.mercruiserparts.com/SelectProductLine.asp
They have parts list and drawings. Just browse for the engine and out drive. They were very helpful with my old trim unit.
