Need Help Identifying a V 20

I thought they started putting the numbers on the transom of V20 CC in 1973? Prior to that, numbers were on a plate attached to CC.

The HP rating though has me confused.
My '72 service manual, as well as ads in history section stated maximum HP of 140HP for the '72. (that '71 ad linked above shows 135HP max).

I didn't look on plate for max HP.
Could it be that much different?
Seeing this post with a pre '73 and a 220HP rating has raised my hopes.
