Air thats the idea but those with the thin black rubber flapper are pretty fragile especially if it stays wet a lot. They also start deterioating fairly quickly.
They also jam pretty easily on small debris crap. The ones I have been looking for have an actual strong plastic flap on the outside, found some once for a big boat and they were 5-6 inches across, need them for a smaller boat like our V's
