Fried or grilled works, I've had both. I'd imagine smoked would be good also.

Fried & grilled are probably most common. Not the best eating of the mackerel family, but i try to bleed & gut as soon as i catch them, then into a saltwater ice slurry. This takes most of the blood taste out.
I personally don t freeze them, but a lot of people do. I also know it s a regional thing, i think on the east coast, they taste better. Like bluefish up north are better that ours down here and our mullet are better than south Florida mullet. |
