LIke Phatdaddy said... Powerwinch 712. I have them on all my trailers and never really had a problem. And like Steplift said, get a snatch block also. Different launch ramps have different angles and sometimes on a really steep ramp they come in real handy. Harbor Freight snatch blocks are perfect for the task.
Capt Pete swears by the 3500 lb winch from Harbor Freight. Says he's never had a problem with loading a trailer. One word of advice .... no matter what you decide to use, make sure that you secure it to your trailer with some kind of lock. (I welded the ends of the bolts, destroying the threads making it impossible to easy take off the nuts). Nothing worse than coming back to the dock after a day on the water to find your winch is gone. .
