I was fighting in Vietnam in the 1960'S. What (if anything) were you doing for your Country during the same time period? The very fact that you don't see or understand what has been and is going on in our schools just shows everyone how deeply the left has been indoctrinating and brainwashing our children. The beauty of good brainwashing is that the subject (you) doesn't even know that they have been brainwashed.
Fact: As of 2014, college professors were 60% left leaning liberals, (up 10% from the year before). Those same professors have been teaching their leftist point of view in college's since the 60's. (Think Kent State) Their students have gone on to become the normal doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc etc etc. Some of them have gone on to become teachers. Those teachers, in turn, have gone on to start teaching in high school where they have been indoctrinating their students. (kinda like pre-K for the left, socialism and Marxism) Some of those students have in turn gone to college and been further indoctrinated by the professors there. (Think of it as finishing school for the left) And of course, some of those graduates became teachers and are now teaching in grade school where they are doing the same thing. At the same time they (the left) started taking over the media, to the point now that almost 90% of the mainstream media is controlled by the left. They no longer publish the news. What they do is publish their opinions, all of which are slanted towards the leftist point of view. Paul Joseph Goebbels was a master of propaganda for the Nazi's. He once said that if you can control what the people see and hear they will believe anything you tell them. That is exactly what the left is doing right now. CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, Bloomburg, Telemundo, etc are all controlled by the left.

The largest ***8211;***8211; NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, and Telemundo are under NBC Universal and owned by Comcast, (America***8217;s most hated company). ABC is owned by The Walt Disney Corporation. They also own ESPN, Marvel, Disney Studios, and A&E networks. CNN is owned by Turner Broadcasting which is owned by Time Warner. They also own HBO and Warner Brothers. CBS is owned by the CBS Corporation but the majority control is owned by National Amusements under owner billionaire Sumner Redstone. Previously, CBS was known as Viacom. Viacom still exists, but it***8217;s a whole ***8216;nother thing.

Fox News (Right wing) is under 21st Century Fox (renamed from News Corp) and controlled by Rupert Murdoch. They also own Sky News and National Geographic Partners.

As you can see, the left overwhelmingly controls the news.


As to me laying off the pipe, the last time I took a hit of anything was back in the 1980's. Unlike you, I know my subject matter very well. I wouldn't spar with me XXL. In a battle of wit's, you're unarmed.

I'm happy you made it back alive and are still here to ***** about how bad it is now. I was not old enough to serve in the '60's but old enough to know the pain and anguish of the local families that lost sons in that war. I went to school in a very rural area of Oregon where my teachers were as conservative as any you may have had. My kids graduated from high school where the size of their graduating class was under 50. Small, rural and conservative. They all went on to get advanced degrees and none of them are brainwashed by the left. They did manage to gain some critical thinking skills while they were in school which has helped them to sort out fact from BS. I think it's interesting you invoked Kent State since the use of National Guard for domestic policing is back in the news again. It wasn't a good idea then and it isn't now, either. You might consider your own words when thinking about who might be brainwashed without knowing it. That works both ways, you know. The surety with which you hold your own opinions can easily blind you to other valid viewpoints. If you choose to make broad brush statements about how your world has gone to ****, I'm happy to push back, although that's not why I came here in the first place.

I would point out that this is the political channel. As it says in the description at the start. "Enter at your own risk. If you say you don't want to see what someone posts - don't read it!!" Although I'm happy you did, remember that no one asked you to come here to this thread. It was of your own choosing. If you or anyone else wants to push back, by all means do so. That's why this thread exists. If you don't want to then I suggest that you stay in any of the other threads and I and everyone else will be happy to try and help you with any questions about our wonderful boats or basically just about anything else that you want to talk about. This is the only thread where it gets "tense".

I had a graduation class size of 62. Five of us went to Nam, not all came back. My involvement in Vietnam is relatively unimportant. I mentioned it only because of your "Were you even alive in the 60's" comment.
What is important though is that the 60's were the starting point (if you will) for various people and groups that slowly but surely started making inroads into academia. Their hero's were people like Lenin, Marx, Castro, Che Guevara, Mao, etc. (Tell me you never saw a "T"-shirt with Guevara's picture on it). As I explained in my first post to you (were you even listening) over time they graduated from college and became the normal mix of grads. Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers, etc. That is how (in a very condensed nutshell) this whole liberal left socialist democrat movement got started. (I'm deliberately skipping tons of events over time for the sake of brevity). But the end result is the situation that we are faced with right now where our children are being indoctrinated at an earlier and earlier age. It now starts in grade school, and by the time they graduate from High school (even without going on to college) their teachers, media and peer pressure have all but assured that they are left liberal democrats. (Both of my grandchildren are fresh out of high school. Both are hard left Democrats. One is even touting how Socialism is the greatest thing since sliced bread, Neither will listen to reason or facts. Both of their parents are right of center Republicans. You explain to me exactly how, if they didn't learn it in school, did they become so indoctrinated)? Kids run on emotions, and very little intelligence. It feels good to think about how they are "saving the planet" from global warming, or how they are righting the "injustice of slavery" or a host of other bull$h!t causes that are thrown at them. They become mindless robots repeating the same slogans, throwing the racism card around at anything they are told not to agree with. I could go on and on but all you have to do is open any issue of the NY Times or listen to any "news" broadcast on network TV if you want to see what's happening.

I don't recall saying that using the National Guard at Kent State was a good or bad idea, only that it was one of several college uprisings that happened during that time period. As far as using them now, truthfully, when you have Democrat controlled states with cities controlled by Democrat mayors that do nothing while paid lawless bands of "protesters" burn and loot, and beat anyone that tries to stop them I think the Guard is a good idea. Hell, personally I think that the military should be called in, arrests made, trails held and if found guilty punishments should be inflicted. Of course, that's just me. I fully realize that will never happen because of the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878.

Moving on, you said that I was painting with a broad brush about how our world has gone to sh!t. You suggested that I might consider my own words when thinking about who might be brainwashed without knowing it. That it worked both ways, and you insinuated that the surety with which I held my own opinions could easily blind me to other valid viewpoints. That's very true. It could. But I do a lot of research, I listen to both left and right shaded tv and radio, I (usually) take a long time to make a final opinion of something. (It's the Engineer in me) So no, not so, not at all. I gave you a rather broad but nevertheless accurate timeline of what has happened and is now happening. I provided an outside source to back up my claim of how the left has infiltrated our schools. In short, I think I made a fairly mild but highly accurate assessment of the current situation. All you provided in return is basically nothing except a nice story about life in a small town and how some people have gone on to seek further education. (And bravo for them. It's only by constantly seeking knowledge that we enrich ourselves). If you choose not to see or believe what I posted .... well, that's your opinion. You are entitled to your opinion.... But you are not entitled to tell me what mine must be.

Thanks for the thank you. :) (My younger brother missed the lottery twice. The first time his was number 358 and they didn't call that many that year.
The next year he had 004 and was sure to be called and Nixon stopped the war and they told him not to report). :)
