I put a meter to my batterys while i was running it and the motor is putting out over 16 amps and thats no good what could it be, the voltage regulator? or the recifier any suggestions.

Step...amps or volts?...OBs turn out 40-60 AMPS, while my onboard chargers switch off at 14.1 VOLTS...
Problem is I don't know the SPEC for your motor...what's it SUPPOSED to put out?... ??? ;)...

Like RAP said, there's no problem if there's 16 amps coming out of your batteries. If there's much more than 16 [volts] coming from the alternator, yes something's wrong.
