Default Fished this past Saturday

Out of Belmar, NJ......turned right, north, saw the bunker and the boats.

Bunker looks aggitated, so I snagged, rigged on circle and snagged another.

Nice Striper hit the treble snagged bunker, and turned out to boat thick 40" fish.

Fish started to scatter by 7am, and that was it.

Got to get out there....earlier, might as well go the night before and sleep in the SUV.

when the sun comes up and the beach fish disappear, go out to 60', find and drift live bunker. 2 flat lines and one down 30' with a 2oz egg sinker. Wait it out as you drift between schools of bunker. You don't have to be right in them.

When in shallow(20-40') always have one the bottom. Even just a dead head.

Hey, my buddy was out at Shark River Reef again, 15 keeper cod and three 4 pound winter flounder.

Default Saturday

I was out in the schools of bunker at the buoy (Manasquan) Plenty of bunker but I did not mark any stripers.

Hows the fishing at the Axel Carlson?

Since you ask for some fishing tip's I would do what skunk said in this thread (very easy and effective). You could also try trolling a bunker spoon or stretch's. Both are a couple of buck's but they work!!!!!! Good luck fishing. Also check with Bennett he is out fishing every weekend were you are and always is into fish!!!!!!!!!!!

I rarely mark stripers even when I'm catching them. Usually I'll look for "harassed" bunker for a while, skipping from pod to pod. If I find nothing exciting, I settle in at 60' (with bunker pods around) and wait it out. This is best when there is a moderate drift to cover ground. Pays off if you have patience. Trolling plugs and spoons is the other way to go. There are Bass out there by the can and to the north well into July every year. Sometimes they eat like pigs, other times they pick.

Skunk - I fished the Reef, but I didn't score on cod, just the bergals. I tried a few spots, marked some fish but nothing. I'm VERY impressed that you find the cod out there.
Just a few boats were out there Saturday, then started leaving after an hour or so.
