Hey my Opti gets 3-3.5 mpg at cruise speeds. And thats 30kts! Not bad for a two stroke.

This Center Console, loves passing the fuel docks at 60. Still has plenty of feel and handling running in the mid to high 50's IMO. Last time out 58mph upwind, solo run, light,1/2 tank of fuel and icechest full, light chop 88 degrees 80% humidity, on the limiter with the prop choice. When the nose starts to float you know your speed is picking up. With a boatload of people/stuff, getting the boat to fly becomes more difficult.
As for the OptiPop on a 30knt cruise, gotta be good mileage, mine seems to be making fuel, need to hook up these Smartcraft gauges that Spareparts came up with a while back..Mileage might not be as good as the 140 4-stroke but pretty good for a 250 hp no smoke 2 stroke, most efficient in class IIRC. I will say this about the Merc, your not gonna wear out the ring gear guessing if it is running or not. ![]()

That is getting it done. My old 200 2.4 would see 48 WFO trimmed out.

Ridge, what wheel were you spinning on the 2.4?

I saw that speed prob 3 or 4 times on GPS before bottom paint. Bottom painted last year (cheap Bluewater soft paint) lost 5+MPH Bottom painted this year (Harder Woolsey paint) back to +/- 50mph I need to work on my prop this winter. I'm turning that 2.4 around 6K. I think if I had it tweaked, get some more bite, get RPMs to around 5600 I might gain some top end

When I jumped from 150 to 200 hp, I gained about 10 mph........so with your 250, another 50 hp........the 60 mph sounds real enough. That is fast for one of these hulls. |

Part of what's interesting is the EFFICIENCY you're able to achieve.......fastest speed meaning getting most from the hull, engine, prop, engine height all together. Lowest amount of drag and maximum push per horse power. Is that a stock engine, and what's the actual hp rating at the prop ? What prop are you running - size and pitch ? |
