cant find the dam thing

My 02 4.8 1500 got about 14 mpg,
my 09 1500 5.3 got 16 to 17 mp,
Now the new to me 02 Tahoe 4.8 got 14 mpg
But that was a 1/4 tank of gas when I refilled cause we were getting this snow storm. so I will see what it gets again when using a little more.

If had to do it again I would look for one with the 5.3 the power is very noticeable.

mj, you ought to be getting better than that. maybe after you clean the throttle body, it'll improve.

The difference isn't so much the 4.8 VS 5.3, it was the 02 VS an 09. There was ALOT of changes made to the LS engines in 07, and your 09 may have even had teh 6 speed trans in it which also REALLY helps the milage out. The 4.8L is a good engine, but it does take quite a few more RPM's to get going than the 5.3L does.
