What about a rubber cap on the top? Though I guess that wouldn't work if a rod is in there. But they do sell the caps at West Marine. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...classNum=50844

On my Albemarle the 2 rod holders over the stern have a rubber cap that is gasketed around the base so you can put the cap on the rod holder when a rod is not in place. I realize the fact of buying new rod holders is probably out of the question.

Great minds!
I've had the rubber cover on my rod holders since 2005 and they still work great. (That last sentence didn't really come out right!)

Funny you said that Buck, tonight i was working on the v and i was thinking about the rod holders. so i lifted the cap on the port side and it broke off in my hand!!!!!!!!!
