I second you on blues being tasty when immediately bled and I am also one who doesn't like to eat anything fishy. Well, sometimes maybe if I have to.

hey chumster, dont forget..... they aint as common down there as they are up here. to all you guys who havent been up to your a$$e$ in blues, this is a fish that you can count on not only to save a day of fishing but to ruin a day of fishing just as fast. you can pretty much go out anytime, anywhere and catch up some blues for fun. on the other hand when you're out there shark fishing or some other type of fishing and you get a mack rigged up just right and it's out there "swimming" for mr mako....... here comes a 20 pound bluefish to cut that mackerel right the hell in half. they'll make you nuts but they're one of the most fun fish we have up around these parts. and they pull from the minute they're born to the minute they die. hard fighting fish.

Oh, I love catching Blues and agree with the great fight they give. It's the eating part that I don't get. But hey, that's just me. I think that the Bluefish, like Stripers are on the decline. There is a real problem going on and management specialists are failing at recognizing it. Yes, there were a lot of big fish taken this year including a new Striped Bass world record, but they are not looking at the younger population of Bass. The same thing happened in the '80's just before the crash of the Striped Bass population. They need to pull their heads out of their azzes. For starters, the limit should be uniform up and down the coast. The limit should also be 1 fish at say 32-34 inches and place a moratorium on commercial fishing of Striped Bass (personally, I would like it to end completely). Anyways, this is way off topic. Sorry Giorgio, nice catches. I love catching Blues. I was just messing with RKC.

Way to go Giorgio. I always look for your posts to keep me informed on which areas to fish over here on the Island. Thanks.

Working blues on top water plugs is one of my favorite things. Blues, smaller ones, say under 28-30 inches are excellent table fare. Take them to a Mexican area, or better yet a Portuguese neighborhood and you can sell them immediately for a good price cause they know. We do it all the time and make up some gas money. You can bleed them, then stick them on ice. Fillet them, lightly cut the dark stripe on the fillet and slide it off. Lay the fillets down, slice a lime and sprinkle some drops on each fillet, spread the drops with you fingers, leave it on for two minutes, pat it dry with a paper towel and flip them over and do the same thing. Now season them, bread or flour them how you like and bake or fry how you like. My normal not big fish eatin kids will scarf down as many of these as I catch. It is really very good.

I said it before, and I will say it again. I love eating bluefish. I don't care how it's cooked, it's all good. I don't understand the "oh it's too fishy tasting". It's a fish, it should taste like fish! I suppose those of you that don't like bluefish also like flavored beer or put lemon\fruit in it too? ..because the beer has too much of a beer flavor? Beer is supposed to taste like beer! I love drinking beer that tastes like beer. I love eating fish that tastes like fish. I could go on... Thanks for listening, rkc
