those things work grat, I clean all kinds of stuff in mine. Teh first thing i cleaned was my wifes wedding ring, looks brand new. I've cleaned my guns, fishig reel parts, tools, all kinds of crap. Best thing is the solution isn't harsh, just make sure you oil any bare metal parts afterwards to prevent rusting(per Willys advise)

We have a small unit that my wife uses to clean her je welry, but it's no where's big enough to clean a carb or pistol or whatever. Truthfully I never thought about using one for things like that, but I have high hopes now. Just need to get a good enough unit. I don't need a professional unit for the amount of things I have to work on... Just personal reels, guns, carbs, tools etc... so a several hundred dollar unit is not necessary. Truth is, I like that Harbor freight unit size. (and price)... So I think I'll get one of them and use that as a benchmark to see if it's enough or do I want bigger/better. Thanks again for the idea... That's what I love about this site, you never know where the thread will lead you. Ferm wanted some cleaner and I'll wind up with a untrasonic unit.. go figure....

i started with the ultrasonic from harbor freight, it does pretty good, I still have it and use it time to time, it doesn't even compare to my bigger cleaner, but it does the job for smaller items

I got one on eBay for $33 including shipping last night. Should have it in a week or so. I know the big ones are better, but for the occasional reel and the like this should be ok, plus my wife will love it for her je welry and stuff. Should be interesting...

For those that may want to try some, it is part # 777189 now and cost me $54.99 + tax from an EVINRUDE dealer this morning. I know this stuff puts seafoam to shame for decarboning, but it does require extra soak time and I don't reccomend directly mixing it with your fuel.
