Welcome to the site....cant wait to see what you got!! Like Blue said you got the granddaddy of the V-20....it's the V-20 form and function I think that has us all crazy about our boats not really that they are Wellcrafts.

Does the boat have any value as a "collector's item" ? car values have gone wild, but I have not paid much attention to the marine area. Ron |

Not to my knowledge on the collectors items question. The undeniable volume of $$$ it takes to put one back into tip top shape will unfortunately overshadow the selling price in the end IMO. But then again I am jaded. Having said that, You can't put a price on fun...

welcome to the cult... if i remember someone's earlier post, the alim's had the steps in the hull, but not quite as much of the carolina flare and were not as beamy. i also think they make a 16, 19, & a 23 foot model. i think it would be great to see one restored, but do it because you want the boat, not as an investment. remember the old line,"If you want to make a million in the boat business, start with 2 million".

Ok, Go for it. If you like the boat, throw caution to the wind. Transoms are always a must do on older boats so I think you should plan on that and stringers. You want it to last so think about composites, I like coosa. Epoxy or vinylester? How fast do you want to go? Hardtop, bimini? Extending the hull would be some kind of expensive but cool. A highly modified Alim may be the apple of your eye, but may not translate on paper is all I was saying. I am there, I have Reelapeelin's nice old 1973 Wellcraft hull with big plans. First thing to do is tear it down to the keel. Best I can describe my situation is "Failure to Launch". These boats love time and $$$ that I don't have right now. However, I am not against living vicariously thru your rebuild thread. I would love to see it. Welcome to the site BTW, you will fit in great. Wish I found this site before I did my boat.
