1963 Alim Craft Deep V (Owner)

Hi Everyone,
Found this site yesterday, I have searched the net off and on for a lot of years using the above discription and never a hit until yesterday, when someone compared a wellcraft V20 to the Alim Marine deep v that started it all. Funny how one word can make all the difference.
I traded for the boat in 1989 (it's a rag) and have thought it just looks too good to dispose of. I think it might be time to get serious and this site has convinced me that it can look as good as it once did.

I have learned to do just about everything, EXECPT use rational thought.

If I move forward, now that this site has been found, I have learned to use my camera a little and will try to document my progress. Will add to my profile in the next few days.

It looks so much the same, I just hope Alim owners are allowed.:hi:

Of course Alim owners are allowed - and highly respected. Your boat is the grandaddy of the V20. Welcome!

Welcome to the site....cant wait to see what you got!! Like Blue said you got the granddaddy of the V-20....it's the V-20 form and function I think that has us all crazy about our boats not really that they are Wellcrafts.

I found Skool's rebuild thread and I can't see anything that does not look like the boat I have. That thread has helped a bunch and I feel confident there will not be anything too unexpected now (should I make the go ahead decision). The only shock would be to find a single piece of wood that is not completely rotted.

Does the boat have any value as a "collector's item" ? car values have gone wild, but I have not paid much attention to the marine area.

Not to my knowledge on the collectors items question. The undeniable volume of $$$ it takes to put one back into tip top shape will unfortunately overshadow the selling price in the end IMO. But then again I am jaded. Having said that, You can't put a price on fun...
