I elected to not raise the transom height due to added weight. Here is the pictures after the first pour. I am going to finish the rest with a second pour this week. I am going to drill several holes into the Arjay after it is set up so it forms a keyed fit for the second pour. I was attempting to do everthing at one time but there was no way I could block this with forms, It would have been a disaster. I had several small unseen cracks that leaked into the bilge and was a mess until it started to set up. After that mess I did not even attempt the forms and duct tape for the sides.
I am going to glass over the sides and drill several holes for venting air before the second pour. I will post final pics later. |

Spanishmak,
I used Arjay 6011 available from Fiberglass Services in FL. I used a combination of long drill bits, chisels and constant vacumning to remove the old plywood. Check out some of the information posted by Mauryc and Brielly. They have done a great job in posting the needed information. |

As for the holes its why I stress in previous post to seal it all using polyester resin and cloth from the inside this also adds additional strength to the skins . I am not sure what you meant by drilling holes to vent ? Use a steel rod (Home Depot use to hang drop ceiling ) to work the air pockets out if any. Be sure to use an electric drill to whip the Arjay to a thin and smooth consistency so the pour is nice and solid , use a rubber mallet and have a buddy tap the sides as you pour this works also. |

If you need extra support I would add knee boards on the inside of the transom skin and glass in.
You will be fine!! And I would add the 5"! You will not be sorry!
