Here's a list of ramps in NJ. http://www.thefishingline.com/njramp.htm Scroll down the page a bit to see the Barneget bay ramps. There are a few within striking distance to Tice's. Supposedly there is a free ramp near the state marina in Forked River but Ive never used it. Hopefully someone else will chime in on that. Any ramp in that area will be a 5-10 minute ride across the bay. I'll see you guys out there.

See the beginning of this thread. It's not a free ramp.. it's a street that has a launch area at the end of it. It's just a side street that ends at the waters edge in a little cove. A long time ago someone dumped some crushed stone in at the end for better traction.. others followed.. after a while there was a launch area. I used to use it in the mid 70's all the time when I lived in Tom's River. I checked on Google Earth a few weeks ago and it's still there, and it's listed on NJ Launch ramps. There are two problems... one is it's a very gentle slope, so you need to get your trailer wet. The other is that it's only a street... when the street fills up with trailers you have no place to park after launching, so you need to get there early (4am ish) if you want to launch there. But it's free, and it's in fresh water (Cedar Creek) so your engine gets a little sweet water internal wash after being in the brine all day. It's a 5-10 minute run down the river past several Marinas to the bay (5 MPH-No Wake Zone) and then a short (10 mins tops) ride straight across the bay to the lighthouse. If anyone wants/needs directions to get there send me a PM and I'll tell them where it is. Really only locals know about it and they keep it's location secret for the most part.

last year and probably this year again I will use a ramp at Downes Fish Camp....small little place which is in Bayville . $10 to launch pretty quiet. Its the closest one to the campground we are staying at....Will probably use that one again as we are this year going to get down there Friday night so as to get an earlier start on Saturday...

Destroyer, hows your engine running...got that heat issue worked out.?

It was the stat.. Removed it and everything was normal in that regard. I have some carb cleaning issues... If they can do it by Friday I think I'm going to take it up to Lake Hopatcong and have it serviced. (Impeller,Plugs,Lower Fluids,Carbs cleaned and syncronized,Powertune Engine,New T'Stats) That's really all she needs to be ready for the weekend. If they can't do it then I'll do the stats, carbs and the gear lube and skip the rest till after the meet. I know the Impeller is ok (changed last year) and she already has new plugs in her, so it's really just the carbs that are giving me problems at this time.. She sat too long in Florida and they need a cleaning now. So the race is on.

Sorry RW and everyone else. It's just not going to happen for me this time. Too many things to do, too short a time period to do them in. Carbs need to be pulled, cleaned, remounted and syncro'ed, and a few other minor things should be done also. I was hoping I could take it to a Marina to have it done while I was at work, but they are all backed up. One Marina told me the earliest he could get me in the shop was 2 weeks from now....(and he was one of the fastest)...Ahh well... take pics so I can see what I missed...
