I don't believe I've ever seen a steering cable come in from the port side

Think about it,
seems like it would make the steering opposite, also the tilt tube may need to be removed and reinserted backwards in order to thread correctly. Maybe it would be a European thing.

The other part is called the steering arm from the cable to the front of motor

Thanks guys. Gonna remove the tube and reinsert from the correct side this weekend. Any idea what scenario would have it coming in from that side?

Well in this case, I have to swap sides because the steering cable won't reach around and make the bend. I need the threads on the steering side of the boat to insert the cable and tighten it up. I'll take some pics today.

Normally, the starboard side of the boat is the side that the steering cable enters the tilt tube from.
