Steering rod thing not sure of name.. I got the motor mounted last week, and was getting ready to hook up the steering when I realized I need that rod that connects to the steering arm that moves in and out of the tube, and to the arm on the motor... Anyone know what this is called, and where I can get one? Also, the steering was formerly mounted on the other side of this motor. Is that switchable? Thanks guys. |

Steering connector (rod, link, bar) depending on manufacturer. Most boating places carry them, depending on length needed, motor type, etc. Our local hardware store even has them on the shelf. Only thing about swapping sides might be the tilt tube threads being long enough or not. Now would the steering operation be reversed also??? |

Being still somewhat new to this, what are tilt tube threads? |

I don't believe I've ever seen a steering cable come in from the port side |

Think about it, seems like it would make the steering opposite, also the tilt tube may need to be removed and reinserted backwards in order to thread correctly. Maybe it would be a European thing. |

The other part is called the steering arm from the cable to the front of motor |

Thanks guys. Gonna remove the tube and reinsert from the correct side this weekend. Any idea what scenario would have it coming in from that side? |

 I didn't think it made a difference?? |
