Not sure that was an insect. May have been a danged bird or rodent.

Looks like the kind of thing that certain bees, wasps and hornets build. How wide is the vent? Not sure that an animal could fit into that.

I agree an insect...the fitting was clear...this was actually in the hose just inside the 90* turn fitting neck...about 1/2" ID...
