Fuel Vent Varmit
:cen: ... I was replacing the vent fixture today and stumbled on what was abut to be a REEL problem...
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90.../95V-21027.jpg Look at all this CRAP that was inside the hose after I pulled it off the old fixture...90% clogged...leaves and moss perfectly rolled to fit the inside of the hose... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90.../95V-21028.jpg The dark round thing in the middle of this picture is a bunch of rolled up leaves some kind of insect was packing it's nest with...glad I found it when I did...if your fuel tank isn't taking fuel as fast as it should, CHECK IT!!...I shoulda known...:cen:... |
That is crazy looking.
One of the things I got wrong was the angle of my fuel tank. It does not fill very well on the trailer. It does better since I raised the ball height. There is nothing obstructing my vent because fuel pukes out as she gets full. I would have burned down my Merc with all that crap in the ventline. In comparison your Honda just sips fuel. Nice find. What critter does that? |

Amazing little critter there. Glad you found his "house" in time.

Not sure that was an insect. May have been a danged bird or rodent.

Looks like the kind of thing that certain bees, wasps and hornets build. How wide is the vent? Not sure that an animal could fit into that. :head:

I agree an insect...the fitting was clear...this was actually in the hose just inside the 90* turn fitting neck...about 1/2" ID... |
Mine too!
So this was meant to be a response to the cut ground wire post Reel put up. Not sure how it ended up on this post... wierd!
Although it appears that mine ended up between the floor and stringer and had just worn it's way through till it broke off. Discovered it during my recent forage through 30 years of bad wiring. Wish I had taken pictures, because I think I would have held the prize for most unnecessary wire on a V. I swear I took 2 complete bushels of wire out of this thing!:you: |
