That is exactly how I get my boat up on the trailer. However, after I power up a bit, I do not leave it in gear like he did. The jump off the bow, onto the winch post and down on to the tongue of the trailer is what I do. But I do it without even getting in the water. I just stand on the tongue, winch her up, then I can step to the bumper of my suburban, shift over to the driver's side on the bumper, swing my left leg onto the rear tire (all the while holding on to the luggage rack) and I am done. I will not do this when it is warm and I am barefoot or with flip flops, but it works well when I have shoes on and it is cold outside.

that's the way we all load them on all ramps i use, if you do like NY and float on they will cuss you and say hurry up get out of the way that's why it has a motor lol. V20's are not to big nor heavy for this issue but the large 32 up cc boats with the triples on the back usually the truck needs help from the boat to get them out of the water, i've seen many people push the truck and all up a wet ramp to get them out then shut it down as soon as the boats going up the ramp.

My procedure is just a slightly more gentle version....I just idle on and I do leave it in gear at idle or it will float back down when I jump over the bow rail to attach the hook....
