here's some good paint actually better than Interlux
http://www.duckworksbbs.com/supplies...rlpu/index.htm WR-LPU Linear Polyurethane Topcoat WR-LPU Topcoat is a two-part linear polyurethane coating specifically formulated for maximum performance and ease of use. Available in 12 standard colors as well as clear satin and high gloss. When cured it is moisture, solvent and fuel resistant. WR-LPU contains UV absorbers and will not yellow or lose gloss for years, depending on exposure. WR-LPU product kit contains a can of paint and a bottle of crosslinking material. The paint by itself cures to a very high-quality coating, without the crosslinker. However, the addition of the crosslinking material produces a tougher and more durable film. It will be more chemical and fuel resistant, have better gloss retention and generally last longer than a film cured without the crosslinker. Package Sizes:Five Ounces Quart Gallon Available Colors: Orcas White, Decatur Black, Whidbey White, San Juan Tan, Bainbridge White, Vashon Gray, Camano Red, Gallon kit Mercer Green, Lopez Blue, Shaw Blue, Sinclair Yellow, Fox Orange, Clear Gloss, Recommended Uses: Use WR-LPU for both interior and exterior surfaces. It is not intended for continuous below waterline use. Used as a clear finish without the primer, it can beautify and protect wood from discoloration and degradation. Comments: For health and safety information concerning this product, please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for this product.

86 v20 CC I actually started on it 2 years ago and then stopped. not much done. I ordered a shed to work in, in 2 weeks it'll be installed and the work will continue.

I bought 2 qts of the wr lpu paint for the hull, (lopez blue)along with the primer.
Also picked up the orcas white for the interior and the whidsey white for the deck to cut glare. Also ordered the quick fair. around $400 altogether. I might stick with the interlux bright white for the hull bottom...cheap and easy to work with. It'll have a red stripe between the blue on the hull sides and the white of the hull bottom. I'll probably just use tape for that. I've done a boat like this before, it came out great and the paint was still fine after 3 years and that was with cheapo interlux. |

I read that it is bad to use bondo on a boat. But with 2-3 coats hvlp epoxy primer over it then why not?

bondo is used by some boat builders as chine filler they then glass over it with coulpe layers of glass not and issue so you can use it, just seal it up with light glass and resin.
