Ever heard the warning about filling a portable plastic tank in the back of a pick-up truck that has a plastic bed-liner in it?...lots of injury and several deaths as a result of the static electricity that combination generates...NEM, I don't know for sure the answer to that specific set up, but I would ground it to be on the safe side...gas FUMES are more combustible then the gas itself by far and while you are putting gas INTO the tank, gas FUMES are being pushed OUT......Murphy's Law works 24/7

Yeah, I'd rather have 55 gallons of fuel in the bilge than a teacup.

I did notice my fill cap is grounded, but i thought that my tank was changed from metal to plastic at one time. It does make sence though to ground it eventhough is plastic.
