Correct me if I've been doing it wrong all this time but what I am referring to is the last coat to purty up any imperfections and small voids (much like what joe is describing) in order to apply primer then paint or Marine Tex or the like.
This is a lot easier and neater than resin for small, thin non structural repairs.
ny, I think we are on the same page. The finish will be a gel coat, paint, Marine Tex or the like.
Again, correct me if I'm wrong.

Here is a similar product I found,note its a "jelly" no strands or kitty hair inside its spreads like butter and sands like cement but the finish will blow you away.
Note the link is for a car product please find the marine grade product
