Please not you CANNOT finish with a kitty hair product, you have to apply the final coat of gelly base only, if not you cannot sand it for a clean smooth finish. The product you have is a filler and not a finishing product.

What would be considered a finishing product?

I thought he epoxy resin would work.

Joe you can't finish with a epoxy resin it will shrink and crack

Found these and they are using epoxy resin with what they call a filler.

Difference is i'm using MAS epoxy resin with filler.

My question was really relating to how much is too much fairing. 1/16 to 1/32 inch is ok to fair? Moved forward with it and it seems fine. Will see when it's time to sand.

Hard to see in picutures and only spot that seems like it rippled just a little was the bottom hole at the top which I may have to touch up after the sanding.

use micro ballons with the resin you were using to make a filler. mix the resin first with hardner then add micro ballons till you have a peanut butter like mix then use with bondo paddle and let dry then sand smooth may require 2 or 3 coats but it will give you the best results. don't use marine tex it will cause issues later with your patch.

Tell me about it! Citrus(tangerine) tree to boot.

I had 3 citrus trees there.

In order to get boat to fit I had to transplant 1, kill 1 and this one is hanging on.

It's an agriculture test! To see what the effects of dirty boat draining directly on the tree. Including fiberglass and resin fertilizer in powder format.

Correct me if I've been doing it wrong all this time but what I am referring to is the last coat to purty up any imperfections and small voids (much like what joe is describing) in order to apply primer then paint or Marine Tex or the like.
This is a lot easier and neater than resin for small, thin non structural repairs.
ny, I think we are on the same page. The finish will be a gel coat, paint, Marine Tex or the like.
Again, correct me if I'm wrong.

Here is a similar product I found,note its a "jelly" no strands or kitty hair inside its spreads like butter and sands like cement but the finish will blow you away.
