after replacing the sending unit & guage a few times, i just keep the mileage on my gps and estimate mpg @ 2 and figure 120 mile range and fill up accordingly. i can usually nail the gallons within 2 or 3 .

That is what I'm trying to do. Most of my guages don't work so it is hard to keep track of what is going on.

If I redo the floor I would like to go with a 60 gallon tank. Right now I think I've got 46 or so.

If I don't use a reed type which way does the float need to point?

How well do you get an indication in the water? When on plane how close is it to sitting still?

I'm trying to find out the best position. Sorry for so many questions.
