I wonder the same thing. That could be the mercury switch, but I've never actually seen one. Why would you want to replace it anyway? Take the keys out the ignition before you drive it away and it shouldn't start.

That's for the help! I'm including a little better picture. The insulation on the wires has rotted away, and this is the cause of my concern. If it is a tilt switch, I have always thought to disconnect the battery when putting the boat up. And I could always just bypass this item.
