High rpm's will melt it together.
A battery operated saw or a router that is variable speed works great also.

That's true...if you try to push the blade too fast...I did this bait-tank lid w/a 1/8 "stick" bit...either do 2-3 passes getting little material each pass or full depth and move VERY SLOWLY...2-3 passes works better...
