Had this system on the 24 Grady with a 200 Yamaha connected to a 9.9 Yamaha 4 stroke. I guess it would work with or without a bracket, but the hi-lo bracket put the back of the kicker even with the main motor. The steering bracket I had was all stainless and had a heim end swivel joint at each end so you could trim up the main motor and not put the linkage in a bind. My kicker was electric start and remote steering......too bad I never needed it. I've had 3 offshore boats with kickers, the only one I had to use was a 6 hp Evinrude with a plastic prop, that was not a good day but it covered better than 20 miles of open gulf in slightly over 5 hours. That's better than hoping for help in my book.

This article is installing a kicker on a Whaler. I think it is very informative and I am considering a similar installation on my V. Check it out.
