My brother has a 225 Merc on the back of a 22ft Angler Cuddy. The Angler is definetly lighter than your Sea Ox, but man that motors got some power. It pushes his Angler to 44mph - 46mph light load. Its just a power house of a motor.

belive it or not, I have a 175 Merc, and with 2 people and 110 gal gas I curz all day at 25 knots, and toped out with triming at 33 knots.
Drove out 20 miles and back 25 miles trolling all day in between, total of 6 1/2 hours running never shuting it down, for $34 of gas!!

Dishnet:
I'm interested. Is it a 25" shaft extended to 30 or a pure 30" shaft? Also any pics of the powerhead and how about some compression numbers? Thanks Kamikaze

MJ I don't know if you remember, but I said in a previous post, I run the same boat. A 23 Sea Ox, hard top, w/ a 225 merc. on a bracket. If you concider this engine I will give you my numbers as for fuel burn & performance. I will tell you this, my 225 EFi is a little more thirsty than your 175. Either way the Ox is a good boat, I loved my V20, but I really feel good in the Ox. Maybe we will have a good year, after all this Chinese New Year, (Mon. 1-26) starts the year of the OX. Good Luck, Joe
