Blue, Oz I am not going into the whole thing again, we have had multi page posts on this before.
But I do want to say something here, if you truly believe the only reason we went into Iraq was a vendetta, or to make money on oil then I am afraid you have bought into the left wing agenda and inspite of what has been posted and talked about before it is unlikely anyone will change minds here.
Two quick things

1. we have not been struck for seven years, all of the sh!tbirds are doing everything they can to stop a fledgling democracy in Iraq, something that if succesful will destroy their vision of middle east and then world domination by the true beleivers of Allah. There leadership is hiding in caves and living like the insects they are. When they pop their slimy heads out of the holes American troops are blowing their heads clean off.
They are on the run and Iran, who is behind a major part of this dillusional fundamentalists agenda is right there next door and sweating what our next move will be.
2. there were people who make money off of strife in the world, there were fortunes made during our civil war, was that not an honorable war, do you believe that fortunes were made during WWII? of course, was that to say that it was not the right thing to do?
We all know the answers to those questions.
We had a tyranical despot that went thru over a dozen resolutions from the UN security council, we had intelligence from several countries besides our own that indicated that something needed to be done, if not now real soon.
Then bam our whole world was shaken, and these leaders including Hussein were dancing in the street, literally, on TV for the world to see.
We had an opportunity to go in, take him out and we also took out the Taliban in Afghanistan too, now instead of america waiting for the next bomb to go off at home, for the next wave of disaster we now had something we did not have before, a true battlefield where no towel wrapped sh!tbird would stand a chance against our troops.
There is a lot more strategy to what is happeneing here than what is being said for public consumption.
And to say that our troops are dying just because big oil wants more, or that GW wanted to revenge daddy is a severe underestimation of the capability of people with a lot more intel than we have and I believe a lack of understanding of what has been accomplished.
step back for a moment, forget the kooks and their conspiracy theories and the left wing media assault against a sitting president and the brave men who are fighting our war and ponder what has been done.
Though I am not happy with how some things were done, the strategy of it is brilliant, and our people at home here in the US are much safer, the world economy is much more stable and a major roadblock has been put up in the previously unchecked march of radicals.

The world's economy may be better off, but last I checked, OURS is in the crapper...

War profiteering has existed forever and will continue til the last war...problem w/this one is it was started in order to profit by a country I always thought of as a democracy that should hold itself above such trickery...

No...I don't believe revenge was the only issue...of course not...but why did he say that?...can anybody tell me why the President of the United States stood there and said that?...

I for one do not believe we are better off having fought the war in Iraq than had we not. The radical islamic factions hate us even more now, and, quite frankly, I am surprised we have not had more attacks since 9/11. In any event, may god bless our country and our brave troops, who are only following orders and doing incredible things.

Oz the whole worlds economy is suffering right now. Believe it or not our country is doing much better than all of europe and asia, the dollar has been gaining strenth. Is it all good, hell no but the economy is suffering here for two major reasons, the huge increases in cost of energy and the huge correction we are going thru in the housing market and the combination of greed and stupidity from mortgage bankers.
To say something like this war was started to make money is quite frankly a page out of the Pelosi Dean Feinstein play book and what was said to dimish this president, diminish our troops and to turn the people against our war effort for political gain.
And now that victory is in sight the same people want to forfeit.
If you think that the economy is bad, imagine what would have happened if Kerry had gotten in, the loss of life from further aggression, here HERE the cost of energy controlled by Iran, the mullahs.
Nipper you may be right, I do not have a crystal ball, but the aggressive pursuit of the scum trying to take over the world by controlling the flow of oil and the destruction of civilian life, the footprint of US troops in the middle east, the complete and rapid destruction of two of the most deadly and brutal regimes in the middle east has most certainly kept you and me and our families safer because our response was immediate and succesful against regimes that the middle east considered tough, undefeatable and protected by Allah.
Now they have to rethink that one because apparently Allah likes US Marines too.
As a matter of fact they also have to commit their recources now to preventing for the first time a democracy, of Muslims!! right smack dab in the middle of them.
If after you think about that, and you realize that our country has not been touched for GW's two terms and you can honestly say you don't believe we are safer because of what our brave troops have done there then I guess we will just have to agree to disagree

No, I don't think the only reason we went to war was revenge for sr, i think there were a lot of reasons, some good , some bad. after 9-11 everybody wanted somebody to pay for that. i can't believe after 7 years, they can't find the guy who masterminded & funded the attack. as far as the economy, i think lawyers & insurance companys are more of a drain on the working man than oil ceos. at least when i pay $4.00 a gallon, i can drive10 or 12 miles( i own a dodge) to a job to work & get paid. i just cut $4000 checks for health, car,& homeowner ins. & don't plan on using any one of them.
