What do you guys use for spot bait?

Around here, they are bait stealers much like Pinfish.
Catch them on shrimp, squid or almost anything.
They aren't necessarilly targeted but will do if nothing else is willing.
We get to keep 25 daily and they got to be at least 8".
(trying to find a picture to make sure that's what you're talking about)

That looks like the little devil. We use them for bait for striped bass.

You would expect to catch them on Sabaki rigs, once you located them.
They also are targeted like pinfish for catching in traps.

Good old fashion night crawlers. just use small long shaft hooks and a small piece. Also tie a double rig a lot of the time you will catch two. Then after you catch them put them on a larger setup and catch the following: (both caught on live spot)

Are those the same as Pilot fish? My daughter is having a blast catching them on litle cripled herrings.
