Vertical jigging is probably half the fishing I do over the last 10 years. Flooundering makes up the bulk of the rest. Catching tuna on the jig is a hoot.

Depends on the species, but I don;t have a "jigging rod" yet. Braid is the key as far as I'm concerend. Most of my jigging is done with St. Croix Tidemaster's in M or MH action, 6" or 6'6" length. I have several set to choose from given the conditions and all but one are with conventional reels. Offshore, I have a TLD 25 loaded with 80 power pro and a 6' Star PLatinum standup that I've been using for deepwater jigging for several years.

i bought my rod from Bass Pro and its identical to the travela 5'8" XXH rod, excpet its 109 dollars and not 199. also it seems to have more backbone to it. does that TLD25 cast pretty far?

when i upgrade reels do you think a lever drag or a star drag would be better? |

I would think the drag, as long as a good one won't make as much difference as the gear ratio for retrieve with a two speed being the ideal I would guess and a fast single speed the second most important issue.
