Yeah, fluke is Northeast lingo (I think) for Summer Flounder. We also have Winter Flounder, a much smaller variety in general.

Oh contrar mon sheri, fluke are called fluke and they are a summer type flounder
And tonic is what we mix with our Bombay or Plymouth Gin for our sundowners after we catch our limit of fluke

Congrats Whale they are some nice fish!!
Flounder is the smllest of the family you have black backs and yellow tails or winter flounder. Big lips, and you chum for them while anchored Fluke (summer Flounder are bigger (up to 20 pounds, most are under 10 pounds) and have teeth, and love to chase there food, you drift for these Halabit the Monster of the bunch!! Grow to the hundresd of pounds! I love to catch a big 300 pounder!! But for the most part they are all the same fish.

 Nice going Whale!! Seems like you are getting into some decent sized fish Its funny, every year the poot tuffer restrictions on us saying the Fluke stock isn't were it is supposed tobe, and every year we just keep getting bigger FlukeI can't wait for them to put the limit @ 30', we will be slaying by then  Putting the boat out front next week, so hopefully be cashing in on some fluke sooooon
