Replace the hose and the vent if you can, the old hose might be the problem cause on the new gas, it eats some of the old rubber hose's.
And the vents are stainless, but I have seen them all corroded on the inside, the one on my new to me boat were so bad that they were solid with white stuff and the old owner was using 6 gal can, cause he thought the tank was bad.

Certainly COULD be the vent...
but does the fill line have plenty of "fall" to it?...

I pulled the old one off this past weekend and it was corroded . I replaced it with a stainless steel model from Boaters World . I was tempted to use the plastic model with a p-trap to catch any water that might wash back in . We are going to run down to Bald Head Island this weekend and that will burn 30+ gal. of fuel . I will see how it works after that .
