That definately looks like something of the drum family like we catch down in the Gulf. The ones that are a little smaller will be better eating, but if cut out all the red and blacken them, they will be much better than what you East coasters usually catch and eat.

Black Drum is correct. We fished hard for a red, but only a few were caught around us. I'm on a quest now to get my red over 50".

I was in Delaware over the holiday at my trailer
and teh park owner came around and told teh fishermen that Sunday night, one boat at Brandywine Shoals in the De bay caught 11 drum one of which was around 80 #. and I don't have my V in the water yet.

You come down to the south and I'll show you a 50"+ red. Not good eating, but a pretty fun catch even on heavy tackle. One of my most fun trips was when I caught a 36#er on 15lb test line; talk about nerve racking!
