I had my Garmin 160 in the place you have in red.
I had same results, at slow speed and drit it was great, could watch your line jigging off the bottom! But get going on plain and gone! Sometimes it worked and sometimes not?? Try were they say, might be fine? won't know unless you try!

2 things: If you put trim tabs on then I doubt if any transom mount will work on plane. I have a I/O with trim tabs and my would not work anywhere on the transom, because of the Turbulence; I opted to install a thru hull 20dg offset. It works all the time, on plane or idling.
Just my 1 1/2 cents worth, (I'm not rich enough for 2 whole cents).

Garagenc, Where did you mount your thruhull? pics?
The existing 'ducer on mine is where Macattack has his, old owner said it worked well. I couldn't say. |
