Snoozer, i'll be down in bahia honda the last two weeks of june, if you have any good spots on the gulf side and can share them, i'd appreciate it. i have some numbers, but mostly dive spots on the atlantic. didja have a good stoney season? i was doing ok this week, but now the water is warm enough for the poachers to get in them.
thanks

Well.....cruising speed, to me, is the speed your boat is most efficient. That seems to be the range for this motor on this boat, 20-28 mph.

As for RPM @ 30? We are all going to give a different answer cause we are all running a different pitched prop.

Plus, its been so long, I cant remember, but I'm pretty sure I put all that info in another post about a year ago.

And you are right, there are some real weirdos on this site.

Well, you want speed eh?
With a full tank? With an empty tank? With the three fat guys I usually have with me?
Are you gonna race the boat? Do you have to catch a bus? Is someone chasing you?
Do you want them speeds in light chop or flat calm? Do you want them in miles per hour or knots per hour? Do you want to know how many coats of paint are on the bottom? With the motor trimmed or not? Does it matter to you how the boat is trimmed? Would you like to know the pitch of the prop too?
How can anyone answer your questions if you don't ask them correctly?
I can give you a list of numbers junior, but they will mean very little unless you know where they came from. 20, 23, 26.

Phat, I don't have anything down that way yet. Except the numbers that everyone knows.
Crabs were off this year, but lobsters were good, at least for us.
I used to fish with a guy out of Big Pine. He knew a lot of coral heads between Honda and the back country. He wouldn't tell me either. But on a calm day, just idle along and look, that's how I find them. I have been visiting a lot of the spots around Marathon that I find on old charts and the internet, most are long gone. The 'canes covered and tore up an awful lot of good producing spots. The game boys have been active too, in trying to find habitats, but they may as well be blindfolded.

I used to know some locals @ big pine who would take out old car hoods and put them on the flats. damn near impossible to spot and no profile on a sounder. flip that over & it looks like roaches in a pantry.

thanks anyway

The 'canes took the car hoods away. Now the Game boys are looking from the air. They spend more of our taxes than they are worth. The only time they catch anyone is when someone squeels or gets pictures to show them. Shoot me a reminder email when you get down here, we can get a beer.

OK Two new coats of bottom paint, new plugs and fresh oil.
6200 rpm wot, 31.5 Kts. With the wind, one foot chop. Full tank, two aboard.
Against the wind, 6100+/- wot, 30.9 Kts. 18/14 wheel.
