If you check out the things that THEFERMANATOR mentioned and fix the engine i think it will be a great boat. I really like the setup of the hydra sport.

I postponed viewing the Hydra till Thursday or Friday.

Turns out the Angler is still for sale. I may go look at it later today. I'm wondering if that engine has enough power for it? It's a 112 SPL...

Guys, for those interested, here's the scoop:

I'm going to look at the Angler this afternoon. Guy is asking $7200 OBO. It's a 1997 with a 112 SPL Johnson. Do you think that motor is powerful enough? Has t-top and looks clean from the pics. If the boat checks out, what should I offer him? Here's the link: http://baltimore.craigslist.org/boa/640995142.html Here's the 91 Hydra Sport 2000 Vector with the 91 Evinrude with bad tilt/trim pump. The upholstery on the combing pads and jumper seats is gone. http://www.thebassbarn.com/forum/sho...ighlight=hydra Lastly, here's a Jones Brothers boat in NC that I may consider after the weekend if it doesn't sell and I don't buy another boat before then... http://eastnc.craigslist.org/boa/636832411.html All opinions are welcome! Thanks boys...

The Angler looks like a decent boat, wouldn't be a rocket with that motor, a 115 without VRO I believe, but it would be ok.

I'd go low to start, and make a big deal about the little motor and no VRO (I know lots of guys on here disconnect the VRO, but it is a bargaining point that its not on this motor). Go low to start, $5500 maybe? Wear your preacher shirt. That Hydro is a lot more boat than the Angler for the same asking price......plenty of motor but it needs some repair. I wouldn't consider the Jones, you derserve better than that.

Well boys, I went to see the Angler and it's beautiful! Clean as a whistle and solid deck and transom. He ran the motor for me and it didn't perform as well as it should have. I could hardly tell that it wasn't up to par while he was giving it gas, but at idle, it was a little rough. He was the one who said he was disappointed with it, so I followed his lead without saying anything one way or the other. He said that the gas fill was left open overnight plus he thought the gas wasn't as fresh as it should be. Anyway, he's scheduled to have his gall bladder removed tomorrow, but says he plans to have it running like it should by Sunday and that he wants to give me a sea trial on it. I asked him if the boat seemed underpowered, but he said it gets on plane with no problem fully loaded with people on board.

I was tempted to make him an offer before I left, but I thought it would be wise to wait till the boat is to where it should be first. I'm planning to see the Hydra on Friday. I figure I will know what to do once I see it up close. From what I can tell, these are two good boats and I would be good to go with either one.

Well, he got the bugs worked out on the engine and called me up to see if I want to go on a sea trial Saturday... I'm flying out to MI early afternoon so I don't think I'll be able to...

When I showed up today, the guy mentioned that there was another fellow who wanted to buy the boat, but was in the process of having his boat sold before he could buy this one. He offered the guy $6800. I was pretty set on not going over $6k, but now I'm thinking... it really is a clean boat... and I will be going over my $6k mark in fixing the 91 Evinrude on the Hydra. However, going with the Hydra will leave me with a higher quality boat and ride once my 96 Ocean Pro is on her. That boat would be worth over $10k easily... The Angler won't hold it's value as well as the Hydra and it comes with a single axle galvanized trailer whereas the Hydra comes with a 3 year old tandem axle galvanized trailer. That said, the Angler is ready to fish! All I would have to do is register the boat in my name and go fishing--done deal. Whereas the Hydra situation would involve money and time... Plus, there's always the uncertainty of what the V20 will pull in with a 91 225 Evinrude instead of the 96 200 Ocean Pro... I'm hoping to get somewhere close to $6k for her. Is that feasible with the 91 Evinrude? (assuming the market turns around). Okay, enough rambling... What do you boys think?

BGA I think if they are both in good condition you may get a better deal with the hydrasport being that the engine needs repair and it is older than the angler. My only concern would be the engine seems a little small for the angler otherwise it looks very clean. Maybe the guy with the hydrasport will take less?

Angler sold? Good, get the Hydrasport. Better boat, better ride, good trailer, nice cover.

I would also cast a vote for the Hydrasport over the Angler
