See the problem is I'm not installing the motor, the marina is so I guess I can assume they will take care of the holes properly if they do not aline?

Don't assume anything with a marina. They tend to do some of the shoddiest work out there. It's all about get em in and get em out for alot of dealers out there, but not all of them are that way.

If its close enough go there and bring a cardboard, put in and trace the holes go home and see if they match, Yes good, No fix befor it goes there. $100+ a hour for them to fix stuff!!

when my e-tec was installed it lined up exactly with my 140 johnson

it will match only the ancient mercury's had a different bolt pattern and i think it was nmma that set the standard. i might be wrong.

When I dumped the 99 ficht and bolted up the Merc . . . everything bolted up just fine!!
I never regretted it for one second.

And the FORCE engines used a different pattern as well. But who would run one of those?

If you do them yourself and do the epoxy wood dowel set up make sure you use hardwood dowels, not soft wood. One fellow I know did his with soft wood thinking it would not make a difference, they crumbled apart after a couple of seasons and destroyed his transom.
While you have the engine off go thru all current and prvious screw holes and reseal them too.
