How is 35 from a 115 slow?? I need to trade it in so I can go 40?? What for??

I had a 1984 115 Merc on a 19 foot centerconsole, it pushed it 43 mph. I'd say you should get 33 to 36 mph on a V-20. It was the best 2 stroke motor I've ever had, you could just look at the key and it would start.
You are talking about the old inline 6 115 Merc right? The newer inline 4 115 Mercs will never compare to the old ones.

yeah the ran great when they were running, but they had a cooling flaw that the 6 cyl would fry when it chose to. when they ran they ran.

I had the same motor but a 90hp in line 6. Wasn't my favorite of the 15-20 outboards I've had over the years....it did seem to have alot of power. It pushed my 19' 10" Angler CC 40mph, tubes, skiers kneeboards etc. Yep, when it ran well, it RAN.
