Congrats Sean!! You should be able to get $700 - $1000 for that old merc. That'll take care of a few months of etec bills.

You and me too pal. My '86 Yamaha is original to the boat and while it runs strong and pushes the boat pretty well I know my shift rod is on borrowed time and the fact that it only drinks premium gas got me thinking. The current motor is rated @220HP so I'd be in the market for a 225-300HP. Weight isn't a concer for me as the Sportsman 250 was shipped from the factory with up to twin I/O's in the rear.

Anybody got a handle on real world pricing on motors in this range? For some reason a Suzuki 250HP or 300HP catches my fancy. Any ideas what new controls etc. add to the total cost?

I have a 89 225 Evinrude, runs great and the suzy's are the best price, but not sure on the best bang for the buck? Weight for me also is no problem, I run 23 Sea Ox

etecs are sweet MJ, but I know two fellows I see at the dock sometimes when we launch, they have the big Suzzies and they both have had others and they swear by them. Say they are the best all around engines they ever had. One of them has had it for three years now.
