What Are Your Plans for 2008?

i'll be focusing on seabass this summer because our new fluke regulations will look something like this.

1. one fish at 44.5 inches per man per day.

2. you cant take it home with you but you can look at it for a few minutes before you release it.

3. it must be an in water release.

4. you must use their favorite food so as not to upset them or give them a tummy ache.

5. in fact dont fish for them at all because we dont want you waking them up if they happen to be napping when you get there.

i can slap my old lady around whenever i want but we only get a few months of good fishin weather up here.



hey new yorkers, i hear tell they may shut down the fluke fishery for the 2009 season.

Naw man, all I want is a couple 20 - 50 lb YFTs, some wahoo, mahi and a couple sailfish releases....all in one day!

I know, I know, it sounded somewhat doable until I said in one day!

Sucks about your fluke regs. And I thought they screwed us over in SC. The limit went up from 12" to 14" @ 20 per person per day. How will I ever survive?!?

Hell even with those limits I haven't caught a flounder in SC in 2 years. And believe me I've tried!

Hey blue, I mentioned hooking up and going out deep sea fishing this weekend but its going to be a no go for me this up comming week. I've been out of town for the past week the boat has been sitting up for a monthe and I just don't have the time to get her ready. That and the 18 month baby is taking up all my time. I know you go a couple of times a year so maybe we can find another date and hook up. I will be down in Nags Head this up comming week from Fri. 23rd to fri the 30th so I will get a little surf fishing in and I customer gave me a years pass for me and a guest to the Avlon fishing pier.

Limit for NY is 4 per day and 20.5". That s the same creel as last season but 1" longer. Ct is 19.5" with 5 fish and RI is 20", 7 fish limit but no closed season. I am hoping to head out tomorrow for fluke as it is opening day in CT.

SR - sorry I didn't get up with you before we went. I was slammed between work and getting everything ready for the trip. I plan to post a report soon in the fishing section, however here is what we did between 3 boats Thursday - Saturday:

23 - dolphin up to 23 lbs (biggest caught on my boat :-))
14 - trigger fish
10 - keeper flounder
7 - big bluefish (released)
1 - 18 lb cobia
1 - 5 lb spade
1 - keeper bsb

I put over 230 miles on the boat, burned approximately 100 gallons of gas, saw some big seas, lost 2 monster mahi pushing 30+ lbs after long battles....saw some really cool stuff. Ready to go back.

Going back to the original question posed...my plans for 2008 have changed. I intend to fish more than ever...just gonna have to pay the piper,er, the oil man I guess.
