That Hydra sounds nice also! Anybody know anything good or bad about the early 80's models? I was hoping to be at least in the mid-80's, but beggars can't be choosers...
Wouldn't it be a bit underpowered by a 175? I suppose I could always swap with my 200... I saw a picture of one once and it looked really nice and it was huge... Maybe a little too big, but we'll see...

The real early HYDRA-SPORTS had some problems with all of the wood coring in them as of late. Around the mid 80's(approximately 85-86), they got there construction methods down pat so long as there was damage done to them. I recently went and looked at a 24 HYDRA-SPORTS cuddy, it was in nice condition except for the fact that somebody had added a swim platform and didn't seal it right. It had a ROTTEN transom in it!, but the rest of the hull was nice. As MJ said, a cared for boat is priority number 1.

![]() Wow! Yep, that thing should be able to fly... A bit too much for me. I've been there with the twin engine setup and I don't ever want it again. It's bad enough trying to take care of one and hoping it never breaks down on you; two is double the headache... I really like the hull design on that boat. Does it really only have a six foot beam? Looks bigger than that in the pic. Thanks for continuing to keep me in mind!

I looked at the same hull last week but in a cuddy. It has an 8' beam to it(maybe a hair more). The gunnels in them are a little low for my liking, they came to about an inch above my knee(I'm 5'11"). I like the gunnels to hit about mid thigh to be comfortable. You could always get it and take 1 engine off of it. They say a single 200 will cruise around the low to mid 20 knot cruise, with a top end near 35 knots. It is a good hull for lower power but in a larger hull. Somebody has obviously worked on that hull in the ad, I don't believe they ever offered them with a full transom in an outboard set-up. Brackets didn't really start becoming mainstream until the mid to late 80's. And it's only rated for 350HP MAX, 450HP isn't to bad I guess. Sort of like SKOOLS putting 450HP on a 248 that was rated for 300HP origanally.

Good point about only using one engine... That would work and it would be nice to have a spare motor... hmm...

BGA, i had a 21' hydra-sport before i bought the v20(w/ e235) kevlar hull & it was the best riding & driest cc i had ever been on. the down side was the low gunnel's and the v was so sharp, that when 2 guys were fishing on one side, it felt like it was going over. i owned it about 2 years & sold it for a cuddy v2o when my daughter was born. that was 19 years ago and i still see that boat in the bay today (diff motor). the only thing i heard about the kevlar hulls were any repairs had to be done with epoxy or vinylester resin & then painted.
