my motor had to come off the boat to get the old steering off . thats what i was told anyway.

Yep, motor has to come off, or cut the cable into short pieces . Mine needs to be raised two holes anyway,plus I am working a possible deal on an Optimax...we'll see what happens

No Etec service around here, and one of the top merc in the region is down the street from me...what would you do???

I'm probably gonna wait till fall as it stands anyway. The hydraulic steering is gonna happen first chance I get.
