Thumbs up

Thank you for those kind words, Joe. Yes, there is still another step to getting us officially changed over, and until that can be accomplished, some things might not work quite right. Everything will be fixed in due course. I think I might still have to rescue the smilies off the old server but, at the moment, I am too tired to mess with it. I will play with it a little in the afternoon tomorrow and try to make it all pretty for the weekend.

Meanwhile, I hope the increase in server performance is apparent. I think this server is at least twice as fast as the old one and a hell of a lot more stable. I don't know what those guys did on that old server, but something used to drag that site to a standstill. It was partly because the old YaBB board had grown into an unmanageable monster of Tokyo crushing proportions, but there was something else afoot there too. At first I thought it was traffic from other sites on the server bogging it down, but it would happen at 3 in the morning?

I never did figure it out but it doesn't matter. We are shot of the place now, and I think everyone will like the new digs a lot better. You have a cleaner, leaner site with a message board system designed to work in communities with thousands of members and a million plus posts. Even as chatty as this community is, it should take years to challenge the resources we now enjoy.

As Joe has said, the hard part is over and your patience was key. Now we can sit back, drop a line in the water and crack a cold one.

Thanks John and MJ. If you need any help just let me know. I know nothing about computers but I can nod in agreement or disagreement very convincingly. Seems to help my boss run things better.

Thanks guys - this is really a unique community, as you have once again demonstrated. And thanks MJ for your patience with my string of questions - you got me posting some pictures in my Album - not many yet, but I'm gettin' after it.

Speaking of wetting a line, there's a little good news out here on the Columbia. There's supposed to be a really good Spring Chinook Salmon run and the feds finally approved shooting some of the (not even remotely endangered) Sea Lions below Bonnieville Dam, where they've been chowing down on Salmon for years.
