Did not know the 292 was taller bolted mine up to the old drive never has been a problem but I run the boat easy. Used an osco manafold think its on the 7th season pulled it a couple of seasons ago flushed it and soaked it in maratic acid for a bit. only problem I ever had was to rethread the drain plug salt got to it. Boat does not run fast but lots of omph out of the hole

292 is about three inches taller than the 250, look at the lifter covers, its the easiest way to tell the difference, you should have had to lengthen the exhaust hose from the exhaust pipe to the riser if using a stock type manifold and riser, other wise just about eveything elses would bolt up
